Air cleaner case nut
Wing bolt
Foam element
Paper element
* Check and clean the air cleaner periodically (every 25 hours for the foam
element and every 50 hours for the paper element). Severely dirty elements
may cause poor starting, insufficient output, and reduce engine life. If there are
any defects in the elements, replace them with new ones.
* Do not use oil for cleaning the dry type paper element. Remove dust from the
paper element by beating it lightly against a flat floor. Do not use compressed
air to clean paper element.
* Handle the elements carefully to avoid breaking or deforming them.
1. Remove the air cleaner case nut and detach
the case.
2. Remove the wing bolts and detach the
elements. Wash the foam element in a vessel
filled with detergent and water, and blow
compressed air against it or shake it to dry.
Then, soak the element with clean engine oil,
and squeeze it to remove excess oil, drying it
as much as possible. Remove dust from the
paper element by beating it slightly against a
flat floor. In both cases, replace any severely
dirty or broken elements with new ones.
3. Cover the paper element with the foam
element, then attach them to the bottom plate
with the wing bolts.
4. Attach the air cleaner case to the element
assembly.
