SmartBase MPC600F/MPC400  Chapter 4: Maintenance & Service

6.2.6 Modem and NCU tests

These tests test modem and NCU transmission and reception.  The modem tests check whether signals are
sent correctly from the modem by comparing the sound of the signals from the speaker with the sounds
from a normal modem.  Also, you check on the display whether or not the modem correctly detected
received tone signals and DTMF signals.

End this test by pressing the 

Stop/Reset

 button.

Modem test type

Overview

Frequency test

The modem sends tone signals from the modular jack and

the speaker.

G3 signal transmission test

The modem sends G3 signals from the modular jack and the
speaker.

V34 signal transmission test

The V.34 modem sends G3 signals from the modular jack and

the speaker

a) Frequency test

The frequency test menu is selected by pressing the

 button from the MODEM NCU test menu.

Signals of the frequencies below are sent from the modem using the modular jack and the speaker.  The
frequency can be changed with the numeric buttons.
