Figure 5 below indicates that approximately 95% of devices have a scan ratio
of 100% or less. Therefore, approximately 5% of devices have a scan usage
greater than 100%. Canon USA recommends a Scan Charge Plan for these
devices.

1. Scan Charge Plan Options
Canon USA recommends a Base Charge Plan or a Per Click Scan
Charge Plan to collect revenue for high volume scanning:
•
Base Charge Plan
– If a Base charge is used in the maintenance
agreement rate for prints and copies, the price for high volume
scanning can be included in the base charge.
•
Per Scan Charge Plan
– A per scan charge plan to collect revenue
for each scan of the device that is not related to a copy scan.
Note: a soft counter is not available to capture scans only or extract
scans from the copy scan meter included in Counter 501. Therefore,
Canon USA recommends subtracting the value of Counter 101 from
Counter 501. Since Counter 101 includes the total amount of prints
and copies made, subtracting this value from the Counter 501 value
yields a result that most closely represents the number of documents
scanned.
