Switching Temporarily to Tone Dialling

Many information services for banks, airline reservations, hotel reservations, etc., 
require tone dialling for their services. If your FAX is set for pulse dialling 
(

p. 38), follow this procedure to set the unit temporarily for tone dialling:

Dialling Through a Switchboard

For details on dialling through a switchboard, see p. 39.

To talk to the other party, you will need to connect the optional handset or a telephone to 
your FAX (

p. 25).

You can also lift the handset instead of 
pressing

Use the numeric buttons to dial the telephone 
number of the information service.

The FAX connects using the pulses 
required by your telephone line.

When the recorded message of the 
information service answers, press

switch to tone dialling.

the LCD.

If you pressed 

Hook

 in step 1, you can 

pick up the handset if you need to talk to 
the other party.

Use the numeric buttons to enter the numbers 
requested by the information service.

Numbers entered after pressing

disconnect the call.
