REMOVING THE SPOOL COVER AND REPLACING THE SPOOL

NOTICE:
Screws are captured in the Spool Cover and
will not come out completely.
NOTICE:
Take care when removing the Spool over open
water that the Clutch Pad doesn’t get pulled off.
NOTICE:
See the "Terminating the Downrigger Line"
section of this manual for more details on routing and
terminating the Line of the new Spool if needed.
d. Loosen the two 1/4-20 Phillips Head Screws on
opposite sides on the Spool Cover using a
#2 screwdriver.
f. With the Spool Cover removed, carefully remove
the Spool and Spool Gear, making sure the Line is
pulled free from the Downrigger Assembly.
g. Take the new Spool and the Spool Gear turn it so that
the Line is wound in a counter-clockwise direction.
h. Feed the end of the Line through the base of the
Downrigger Assembly so that the end of the Line
exits the Downrigger Assembly toward the Boom.
i. Pull the Line so that it is tight and void of extra
slack. Avoid kinks and bends in the Line and
insert the new Spool so it is seated on the
Motor Shaft.

e. With the screws loose, remove the cover to access
the Spool. Be sure to carefully disengage the
Counter Gear from the Spool Gear. The Counter
Gear sits on the shaft of the 3 Digit Counter and
should slide off with the Spool Cover.
