SERVICE & MAINTENANCE
a. Unplug the downrigger and make sure it is
not connected to a power source. Then secure
the Spool.
b. Locate the Clutch Knob on the Spool side of
the downrigger.
c. Rotate the Clutch Knob clockwise to remove it
from the downrigger.

NOTICE:
Take care when removing the Clutch Knob
over open water so you don't drop it into the water.
WARNING
Loosening or removing the Clutch Knob will release the
Spool and allow it to run free. Make sure you secure
the Spool before removing the Clutch Knob. It is
recommended that you wear protective gloves and eye
protection when working with the Spool.
In case of a dead battery, your downrigger comes equipped with a power loss Manual Crank Handle. This handle allows for the retrieval of
your Weight should you lose power or have an electrical failure. To utilize the handle follow the steps below.
NOTICE:
The Manual Crank Handle should be turned
counterclockwise to install and tighten. This is also
sometimes called left handed thread.

WARNING
Make sure the downrigger is not connected to a power source.
d. Take the Manual Crank Handle and install the
handle’s hex pattern to match the hex pattern
on the Spool. Turn the Manual Crank Handle
counterclockwise to install and tighten.
e. Once installed, turn the Manual Crank Handle
counterclockwise to retrieve the Weight.
