AfixedformatI/OboxfittedwithaGPIO
cardhastwoD25connectorsonthe
rear—femaleforinputs,maleforoutputs.
GPIOcardsformodularframeshavea
singleD50connectoronthefrontfor
bothinputsandoutputs.Twoversions
ofmodularcardareavailable,onewith8
changeoverrelayoutputsandonewith16
normallyopenrelayclosures.
GPI(inputs)
EachGPIOcardtypehas8opto-isolated
inputsallowingforremotetriggeringof
consolefunctions.ApplyingDCorAC
voltageacrossthepositiveandnegative
pinsofaninputwilltriggerit.
AcommonwaytotriggeraGPinputisby
providingadryclosurefromarelaywith
novoltageonit.Ifusingadryclosure,
itshouldnotsimplybewiredacrossthe
+/-terminalsoftheoptoinput-onehalf
oftheclosureshouldbeconnectedtoa
groundontheGPIOcard,theotherhalfof
theclosuretoanoptoinput,andtheother
inputshouldbelinkedintheconnector
hoodtoaG5Vpin,asshown
above.Thispreventspotentialproblems
inconnectingpowerbetweendifferent
manufacturers’hardware.

provideflexibilityinuse.
Ifrequired,thesecontactscanbeused
toswitchaudio.Ifbeingusedtotrigger
externalequipmentexpectingaground,
therelaycommonshouldbeconnected
toagroundfromtheexternalequipment
andeitherthenormallyopenornormally
closedcontactusedasthetriggerline.
Ifadryclosureisrequiredbytheexternal
equipment,thiscanbeachievedbywiring
onelegtoeitherthenormallyopenor
normallyclosedcontactandtheotherleg
tothecommonornormallyopen/closed
negativecontact.
Normallyopen(NO)contactsshorttothe
commonornegativepinwhentherelayis
activatedbytheselectedfunction.
Normallyclosed(NC)contactsare
shortedtocommonornegativewhenthe
functionis
not
active.
Dryclosureonlyoutputs
TheWY5859versionofmodularI/Ocard
providesthesame8inputsalongwith16
dryclosureonlyrelayconnections,which
shortwhenactivated(NO+&NO-).
