Mains operation
The supply battery (battery II) of the caravan in mains operation is
automatically charged by Module B and the 12 volts consumer by Module A
from the supply battery. In connection with a MES 250-(1-4) / Module A the
maximum charging current is 16 A. In connection with a MES 400-(1-4) /
Module A the maximum charging current is 27 A. Charging characteristic
curve - see technical data.
Driving operation
In driving operation with a caravan, the supply battery (battery II) in the
caravan is charged by the generator of the towing vehicle. A voltage of 14.2
volts is necessary in order to bring the supply battery to a state of optimum
charge. This voltage is not available in the caravan, due to line losses. When the
input voltage is between 10 and 14.5 volts, the integrated voltage booster
provides regulation so that the supply battery is always supplied with 14.2 volts.
It compensates for voltage variations and line losses.
In driving operation the integrated voltage booster receives its supply voltage by
means of the positive cable from contact No. 10 on the coupling plug. For as
long as the generator is running, the voltage booster adjusts the output voltage
to the supply battery to 14.2 volts. Avoid operating consumers during journeys.
Solar operation
The supply battery is charged by means of the integrated solar regulator with
the connection to a maximum of two solar panels of a maximum of 85 watts
each.
Note
The microprocessor of the Module B automatically takes care of the battery
charging management of the individual charging current sources. The charging
process is done by using the temperature sensor for the supply battery
dependent on temperature.
