between the fastening straps and the hull. Check instructions re-
lated to trailer transportation in the engine manual.
Note also the boat accessories during the trailer transport. Take
care of proper fastening of loose items in the boat. Do not keep
the hood, harbour hood or other canvas cover on the boat dur-
ing trailer transport. At high driving speeds a hood or cover might
become loose and cause danger or damage to the boat or other
road traffic. During trailer transport, a hood or other cover swing-
ing in the air turbulence caused by the car, can also cause sur-
face damages to the boat. Keep the boat hood in the storage
place reserved for it during the trailer transport or remove the
hood completely, if required, for the duration of trailer transport.
ATTENTION! The trailer should be slightly front-weighted. Ensure
that the boat is firmly fastened to the trailer and that
its weight is evenly distributed along the trailer sup-
ports. During transportation a swaying boat will buffet
against the supports and damage the hull.
WARNING!
In terms of carrying capacity, an inadequate or poorly
maintained trailer can break down during transporta-
tion and be dangerous. Ensure the load capacity of
the trailer is sufficient for the weight of the boat, its
engine, fuel, and all equipment.
WARNING!
Do not keep the hood, harbour hood or other canvas
cover on the boat during trailer transport. At high driv-
ing speeds a hood or cover might become loose and
cause danger or damage to the boat or other road
traffic.
5.10.6 Navigation
Even if the navigation takes place with aid of a GPS navigation
system, there must always be a compass and an up-to-date sea
chart in the boat. A GPS device is a navigational support system
and it should not be used as primary means of navigation. In ad-
dition to that, the chief of the vessel must conquer the basic navi-
gational skills.
