Hot combustion products exit the appliance via the 6 horizontal slots positioned at the sides
and rear. Do not leave or place anything close to the appliance when in use. Not only would
this create a potential fire hazard, it could also prevent the natural flow of air through the ap
-
pliance, which is essential for good combustion.
BEFORE LIGHTING THE APPLIANCE
• The appliance is intended for professional use and only by qualified people.
•
Make sure the room is well ventilated and an openable window is available.
•
Wipe all external surfaces of your appliance with a damp cloth.

• Depress the control knob and turn anti-clockwise to the large flame symbol.
•
Continue to depress the control knob and at the same time push in the piezo ignition button.
A spark will be generated and the burner will light. Several attempts may be necessary after
initial installation.
•
After 5 seconds release the control knob. The required setting can now be selected between
the high and low settings.
•
If the appliance fails to remain alight, wait 3 minutes before attempting to re-light.
HOW TO USE YOUR APPLIANCE
• Before first use, fill the appliance to the ‘MAX’ line with a weak detergent solution, boil, drain
and thoroughly rinse with clean water. Repeat this step so the urn is cleaned twice.

IMPORTANT
: Always put water in the appliance before switching on. If the appliance is
over-
filled there is a risk that boiling water will be ejected from around the lid.
• Remove the lid and fill the appliance with the desired amount of water. Do not fill above the
‘MAX’ capacity mark.
•
Replace the lid.
• A full capacity 20 litre appliance filled to the ‘MAX’ line will take approximately 45-50 minutes
to boil from cold on the high setting.
•
Do not leave the appliance unattended whilst in use.
•
Do not allow the appliance to boil dry.
•
The appliance should NOT be carried whilst it contains water, particularly hot or boiling water.
•
The appliance is not suitable for heating liquids other than water, or for heating water contain-
ing solids. If the water is being heated for tea making, make the tea in another container.
•
TO AVOID BEING SCALDED, KEEP HANDS AWAY FROM ANY STEAM FROM THE LID
WHEN THE APPLIANCE IS OPERATING OR HAS JUST BEEN SWITCHED OFF.
