c) Select Properties from the menu list.
d) Select the
Channel
tab page from the dialog.
e) Check that
Filters
is set to DC at the bottom.
7.2.3 Radar Unit Troubleshooting
1) Check that the radar cable has been connected to the correct input on the front end’s
Connection Module and the output has been connected to the correct input channel
on the Input Module. The green status LED around the input channel 3 connector will
be illuminated if the Ground Station is powered up.
a) If the radar is connected correctly, the output BNC channel 6 LED will be blue.
2) Check the radar signal is the correct TTL waveform.
a) Press <Ctrl+2> on the keyboard to open the Measurement Organiser in the
software.
b) Press
<F2>
to activate the template at which point the analyzers in the
Measurement Organiser tree will turn blue.
c) Double-click the Tachometer icon to open a signal monitoring display.
d) Wave your hand back and forth in front of the radar antenna and see if TTL
pulses at least 5 V high appear.
3) If the pulses are distorted:
a) Expand the
Tachometer
node in the tree.
b) Right-click the Vehicle Speed signal group.
c) Select the
Properties
from the list.
d) Select the Channel tab page from the dialog.
e) Check that
Filters
is set to
DC
.
7.3 Troubleshooting the Vehicle Station
The Vehicle Station utilizes almost the same standard PULSE hardware used in the
Ground Station, and as such, some of the connection basics are the same. To check the
functioning of in- or on-vehicle components, see the following:
•
For issues relating to the correct connection and operation of the vehicle-mounted
photocells, please refer to the “Photocell Troubleshooting”
• For issues relating to the correct operation of a GPS speed sensor, please refer to
“Radar Unit Troubleshooting” with the single difference that the speed sensor
should connect directly to channel 6 on the front end’s Input Module and not to the
Connection Module.
