IGNITION SYSTEM

SERVICING

Removal

Disconnect the battery cables at the battery.

Twist and remove spark plug leads.

Remove flywheel cover as follows:

Loosen clamp securing breather hose, then
remove breather hose from flywheel cover.

Loosen the clamp securing outlet tube to flywheel
cover.

Remove three bolts and flywheel cover.

Remove manual starter if applicable. Refer to
starter

REMOVAL

on p. 219.

Use Flywheel Holder, P/N 5034227, and Screws,
P/N 5034235 to loosen the flywheel bolt 2-3 turns.

IMPORTANT:

Do not remove flywheel bolt at

this time to avoid damage to crankshaft when
using flywheel puller.

WARNING

Before removing ignition parts:

Disconnect battery cables at the battery.

Twist and remove all spark leads.
