2. Place a drain pan underneath the
oil drain plug area.
1. Gearbox drain plug area
3. Clean the following areas.
– Drain plug area
– Vehicle speed sensor (VSS)
area
– Dipstick area.
4. Remove the dipstick.
5. Remove the drain plug.
6. Let
oil completely drain from
gearbox.
7. Clean drain plug from any metallic
particles.
8. Install the drain plug.

Drain plug
20 ± 2 Nm
(15 ± 1 lbf-ft)
9. Remove the VSS and clean it with
a clean rag.
1. VSS screw
2. VSS
10. Refill gearbox.
N NO OT TE E:: The oil should be level with
the bottom of the oil level orifice.

11. Reinstall dipstick.
12. Lubricate the VSS O-ring.

13. Install the VSS.

10 ± 1 Nm
(89 ± 9 lbf-in)
14. Wipe off any spillage.

1. Place the vehicle on a level
surface.
2. Clean filler plug area prior to
checking oil level.
The drain plug is located on the
right side of the front differential.
