Section 05 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Subsection 04 (LIGHTS AND ACCESSORIES)

Checking for Shorts Between 2 Wires

When checking continuity of a wire in a circuit,
wires should be checked for short circuit as fol-
lows.

Make sure to isolate circuit by unplugging connec-
tors.

Let’s suppose that the circuit to be checked has
a RED and a BLACK wire. Using an ohmmeter,
measure the resistance between the RED and the
BLACK wire. The resistance should be infinite
(0L.). Otherwise, there is a short circuit between
both wires. We must therefore identify and cor-
rect the fault.

If a fuse is damaged, replace it with one of the
same rating.

CAUTION: Do not use a higher rated fuse as
this can cause severe damage.

HEADLAMP

NOTE:

Assuming headlamps are good, failure of

both LO or HI beam headlamps may be caused
by their respective relay. All lights failure may be
caused by fuse or headlamp switch.

Test

Check fuses. Refer to

FUSES

above.

Turn on ignition switch.

Turn on headlamp switch in LO or HI position.

Disconnect headlamp connector. Refer to

BULB

REPLACEMENT

Using a multimeter, set it to Vdc.

Read voltage on headlamp connector as follows.
