Remove the basting stitching.

Inserting a piping

Place the piping between two fabrics inside out, as
shown below.

Attach the adjustable zipper/piping foot. (page 60)

Sew along the piping.

After sewing, turn them over.

Appliqué stitching

Baste or glue the appliqué piece to the base fabric to
secure it.

Attach the zigzag foot “J” or the open toe foot (sold
separately with some models) shown below.

Select a stitch.

Note
• After adjusting the needle position, slowly turn the
handwheel toward you (counterclockwise) and
check the needle does not touch the presser foot.
CAUTION
• When sewing, be sure that the needle does not
touch the zipper, otherwise the needle may
break and cause injury.

IMPORTANT
• If glue is used to hold the appliqué in place on
the fabric, do not apply glue to areas that will
be sewn with the machine. If glue adheres to
the needle or bobbin case, the machine may
be damaged.
