10.1 Ethernet Setup:
(a) Connect the cross-over cable to the laptop and the Ethernet LAN port on the back of the MDR.
(b) The following steps apply to PCs running Windows 7 upwards
. Before making changes to the PC’s network settings, ensure the PC is not
connected to a network.

below shows the network configuration window. This dialog may be accessed by right clicking
on “Open Network and Sharing Center” on the desktop
. The appropriate network interface is then selected by double clicking on the
corresponding entry.
(d) Select
the “Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)” item and click “Properties”.

box an IP address should be entered; a good choice is
192.168.1.1
as shown in the example below. (This address is on the same subnet as
the MDR, which has a default IP address of
192.168.1.100
).

(e) To locate the MDR IP, press the
ENTER
button then the
DOWN
arrow to read the current MDR IP.
(f) In order to change the MDR IP, browse to
Settings

using the remote control.

(g) In order to test the PC connection to the MDR, open the Command prompt by typing cmd within the start-up menu. Ping the MDR IP
address by typing
ping 192.168.1.100
. These results are shown in
