Use
Tip:
Fill your fermenter with water and run
Immersion Pro, this will help you get
comfortable with how it works.
1.
On brew day, sanitize fermenter as usual. Clean
and sanitize Immersion rod (see instructions
below).
2.
Transfer beer to sanitized fermenter.
3.
Dry fermenter exterior completely.
4.
Ensure jacket is setup in a well-ventilated area.
5.
Tape spigot closed (if applicable).
Speidel customers please note: we strongly rec-
ommend using the chrome version of this spigot,
which has a more robust mechanism that is much
less likely to accidentally flip or leak during
installation.
6.
Place dry fermenter into jacket.
7.
Place stopper on fermenter, slide Immersion Pro into
fermenter through the stopper.
8.
Install your choice of airlock assembly.
9.
Ensure stopper has a good seal.
10. Plug temperature probe into head unit.
11. Tape metal probe to the outside of the fermenter
in the top 1/4 of the liquid level or ensure
thermowell measures from top 1/4 of the liquid
level of the fermenter.
12. Tighten pull string on jacket as tight as it can go.
Ensure heat exhaust is not blocked.
13. Plug in power.
14. Select fermentation temperature.
Cleaning and Sanitation Options
For cleaning and sanitizing: first remove the rod from
the head unit.
Correct cleaning
Cleaning the rod should be a simple job with just warm
water (and some detergent). Make a habit of cleaning
the rod directly after removing it from the fermenter.
Correct sanitizing
There are different options here; go with the one that is
the most convenient for you.
Always clean the rod before sanitizing!
• Option 1: Spray the rod with an alcohol based
sanitizer (e.g. P3-Alcodes).
• Option 2: Use heat to sanitize; boiling the rod in
water (or wort) for a few minutes will do the job.
• Option 3: Use heat to sanitize; bake the rod for
1 hour at 120°C. Ensure rod is clean first.
• Option 4: Submerge in iodine-based sanitizer
(Iodophor, Io Star), or fill a spray bottle with iodine
sanitizer and completely spray down the rod.
The coating of the rod might wear off over time, in that
case you should replace the rod, as this is not covered
by the warranty. For long durability, take into account
the following directions:
The finishing layer of the rod will deteriorate when
placed in liquids with a pH level below 3.5 or
above 8.5.
Do not use oxygen based cleaning products or
products containing caustic soda to clean the rod.
For sanitizing, do not use oxygen or acid based
sanitizers, they will damage the rod’s finish and will
void warranty.
