 IMPORTANT NOTE!

Before each observation you should make sure that the tilting mirror is in the "UP" position

(14, Fig.

2).

For further information please refer to chapter "Operating the tilting mirror"

on page 11.

Assembling the MCX Telescope

To operate the MCX, you need an additional eight AA batteries - the assembly takes place

in just four steps:

1.

Mount the LED viewfinder using the Allen key as shown in Fig. 8 shown on telescope

tube.

 IMPORTANT NOTE!

Make sure that the mirror surface of the LED viewfinder points towards the tube opening

when attaching it.

For more information on the orientation of the viewfinder, refer to chapter "Use - The LED

Viewfinder".

2.

Insert the SP 26mm eyepiece (1, fig. 2) into the eyepiece socket (4, fig. 2).  Tighten the

clamping screw (3, fig. 2) to touch tightness (do not overtighten).

3.

The battery compartment of the telescope (6, fig. 9) is located at the bottom of the

base motor housing. Bring the telescope, as pictured in Fig. 9, into a secure lateral

position. Simultaneously press the two retaining clips (4, fig. 9) and open the battery

compartment. Lift the battery compartment cover (5, fig. 9) from the base housing.

Now insert the eight AA batteries into the battery compartment, observing their +/-

orientation, which is indicated on the battery compartment base.

Alternatively, use the recommended power supply unit (art. no. 0455121). Connect it to

the female 12V jack socket connector (4, fig. 10) found on the side panel.

 WARNING!

Insert the batteries with the great care! Do not insert the batteries upside down, do not mix

old and new batteries and only use batteries of the same type. Do not use rechargeable

batteries! If these precautions are not followed, or if batteries (even single ones and only

for a short time) are inserted the wrong way round, irreversible damage may occur to the

MCX itself, which is not covered by the telescope’s warranty! Further damage caused by

leaking, heating, possibly burning or bursting batteries, cannot be covered by the warranty

either!

4.

Place the telescope upright on a table. Make sure that the power supply switch on the

side panel (1, fig. 10) is in the OFF position. Connect the coiled cable of the handheld

computer to the HBX socket (3, fig. 10).

The assembly of the MCX telescope is now complete. Now the assembly on the field

tripod follows.
