Breguet’s new collection, Reine de
Naples, is inspired by an early bracelet
watch A.-L. Breguet created for
Bonaparte’s sister Caroline, Queen of
Naples. With their customary care and
precision, Breguet’s watchmakers have
created a symbol of feminine refine-
ment in a contemporary jewellery
watch.
After 200 years of practice, Breguet

of a queen. The Reine de Naples watch

The introduction of silicon
With the introduction of various
critical mechanical movement parts
in silicon, Montres Breguet has once
again achieved a major break-
through in horological technology.
The planet’s most common sub-
stance after oxygen, silicon is unaf-
fected by magnetic fields and, more
important still, highly resistant to
corrosion and wear. Lighter and
harder than steel, it reduces iner-
tia, requires no lubricant and pro-
vides far greater geometric freedom,
i.e. opportunities to design new and
complex shapes.
