Allowances for Expansion
Allowances must be made for the system to expand as detailed in the Heater Expansion Chart below.
The supplied Type 1 hose gas connector is recommended.
Chart 3.9 •
Heater Expansion Chart
Exchanger length and gas input will determine overall expansion. Heaters in a typical installation will
expand towards both the burner and vent ends. Review for proper flexible gas connection.
• 120 Volt - 60 Hz GRD, 3-wire.
• 24V control connection.
• Starting current 4.8 amps
• Running current 1.1 amps
The AG2 Series is equipped with internal relays (HLRP). 24 volts must be supplied to each heater’s
yellow control cord. 120 volts is supplied to the heater’s black cord; observe polarity.
Confirm proper two-stage electrical wiring by cycling heater between stages. Confirm proper operation of
high fire, low fire and off cycles.
Electrical Requirements
Connecting the thermostat with a voltage other than 24V may damage the heater. The AG2 Series
requires a 24V connection to the thermostat. This is supplied by an external transformer (field supplied).
