Section 8 - Getting to know your Boston Whaler
STARTING THE GENERATOR:
Your owners manual packet will have the complete op-
erations manual for your generator. Be sure to read the
manual before operating the generator. Several key points
are indicated here for emphasis:
• Operate the blower for 4 minutes and manually
check the bilge for fuel or fuel vapor. Run the
blower when operating below cruising speed.
• Refer to the Manufacturers Operations Manual
for a Pre-Start Checklist.
• OPEN the generator seacock
• Make sure that the slide selector on the AC MDP
is covering the “SHORE POWER MAIN”
switches.

• Press the START side of the switch until the gen-
erator starts.

DC Main Distribution Panel (MDP)
• DO NOT crank the generator for more than 10
seconds at a time. Allow for a 60 second cool
down period between cranking attempts.
• If the generator fails to start after the first attempt,
CLOSE the seacock to prevent water from get-
ting into the generator. OPEN the seacock when
and if the start attempt is successful.
• If the unit fails to start after 3 attempts, contact
an authorized Kohler
®
dealer/distributor for re-
pairs.
• To STOP the generator, press and hold the STOP
side of START/STOP switch until the generator
stops.
• The generator fuel gauge can be read without hav-
ing to start the generator. Press the STOP switch
to activate the fuel gauge power.
• This is an abbreviated section on Starting and
Stopping your generator. Please read all the avail-
able information in your manufacturers opera-
tions manual for complete instructions.
DO NOT run the generator set out of fuel because the
fuel lines will draw in air and neccessitate bleeding the
system before restarting the unit. The operations manual
included in the owners packet will have complete in-
structions on bleeding the fuel system should it be needed.
The generator set comes with a fuel filter mounted near
the engine and a fuel filter/water separator mounted out-
side the engine housing. The engine mounted fuel filter
has a part number

• The generator must be turned ON to start.
• Momentarily press the STOP side of the remote
start panel. The indicator light behind the switch
will illuminate and the fuel gauge will be acti-
vated.
