2. Attach the adhesive material to the underside of
the plate. If you’re using something like double-
sided tape that isn’t very thick between its adhesive
layers, you might have to attach a single strip to the
plate’s middle groove in order for the adhesive to
make contact with the surface. But this probably
won’t create a very firm or stable grip, so we
recommend attaching two strips of something
thicker, one to each of the plate’s “wings” on either
side of the middle groove. (You might have to trim
these strips if they’re wide enough to interfere with
sliding the Spectra on and off of the plate.)
3. Press the Spectra, plate, and adhesive material firmly
onto the mounting surface.
To surface-mount the Spectra with screws, you’ll need
a pair of screws that are appropriate for the material and
thickness of the mounting surface. Make sure that these
screws’ shafts are thin enough to fit the holes in the
mounting plate, and that their heads aren’t taller than
the groove in the middle of the plate. Once you have
