100BASE-TX TO 100BASE-FX MEDIA CONVERTER TMTR AND RCVR
3.4 Installing the Converter
NOTE
You’ll need one Media Converter Transmitter and the
corresponding Media Converter Receiver. See
Section 2.1
.
After you set the MDI/MDI-X button on both the
Transmitter and Receiver converters as described in
Section 3.1
, set the Autonegotiation (N-Way) switches as
explained in
Section 3.2
, and determine how you will
use your converters as shown in
Section 3.3
, you’ll need
to place the converters on a desktop or mount them on
a wall. Next, power on the converters. Connect one of
the converters to a 100BASE-TX device or network
segment. Then connect the corresponding converter to
a 100BASE-TX device or network segment. Finally,
connect the Transmitter or Receiver to the
corresponding Transmitter or Receiver via one strand of
single-mode fiberoptic cable. Follow the steps listed
below to install the Transmitter and the corresponding
Receiver.
1. For desktop installation, affix the four non-skid
rubber feet to the bottom of each of the
converters.
