The Power Unit is turned ON and OFF by pulling and
releasing the trigger. The farther the trigger is depressed,
the higher the speed of the Power Unit.
u
A forward/reverse control slider determines the direction of
the tool.
u
To select forward rotation, release the trigger switch and
depress the forward/reverse control button to the left.
u
To select reverse, depress the forward/reverse control
button to the right.
Note: When changing the position of the control button, be
sure the trigger is released.
Installing And Removing Tool Attachments (fig. C)
Warning! Shock hazard. Under no circumstances should
this product be used near water.
Warning! Burn hazard. Moving parts within the Power Unit
become hot during use. Avoid contact with moving parts within
Power Unit when removing and installing accessories.
Warning! : To reduce the risk of injury, turn off and unplug
the tool before making any adjustments or removing or
installing attachments or accessories. Remove any accessory
from the tool attachment before removing or installing the
attachment.
Warning! To reduce the risk of injury, do not place fingers
or any other object inside the Power Unit, other than the at-
tachments designed to work with the Power Unit.

To remove an attachment, depress the release button (3)
and take the attachment off the tool.
u
To fit an attachment, line it up with the tool as shown and
pushit onto the Power Unit until it snaps into place and an
audible click is heard.
u
Ensure attachment is securely attached by gently pulling it
away from the Power Unit.
Note: Only use attachments that are specifically designed for
and compatible with the Power Unit.
Note: Refer to individual attachment instruction manuals for
specific safety warnings and operating instructions before
operating attachments with the Power Unit.
Operating: Drill/Screwdriver Attachment
Fitting And Removing A Drill Bit Or Screwdriver Bit
The drill/screwdriver attachment (5) is fitted with a keyless
chuck (6) to allow for an easy exchange of bits.

Unplug the Power Unit before installing or removing at-
tachments.
u
Open the chuck by turning the front part clockwise with
one hand while holding the rear part with the other.
u
Insert the bit shaft into the chuck.
u
Firmly tighten the chuck by turning the front part counter-
clockwise.
u
To remove the screwdriver bit from the holder, lift the bit
from the recess.
u
To store the screwdriver bit, firmly push it into the holder
(4).
Screw Driving
u
Always use the correct type and size of screwdriver bit.
u
If screws are difficult to tighten, try applying a small
amount of washing liquid or soap as a lubricant.
u
Always hold the tool and screwdriver bit in a straight line
with the screw.
u
For driving fasteners, the reversing button should be
pushed to the left. Use reverse (button pushed to the right)
for removing fasteners. When moving from forward to
reverse, or vice versa, always release the trigger switch
first.
Keyless Chuck (fig. D)
Warning! Make certain the Power Unit is unplugged to
prevent switch actuation before installing or removing attach-
ments.
Warning! Do not attempt to tighten or loosen drill bits (or any
other accessory) by gripping the front part of the chuck and
turning the tool on. Damage to the chuck and personal injury
may occur when changing accessories.
To insert a drill bit or other accessory:
u
Grasp the rear half of the chuck (6) with one hand and use
your other hand to rotate the front half in the counterclock-
wise direction, as viewed from the chuck end.
u
Insert the bit or other accessory fully into the chuck, and
tighten securely by holding the rear half of the chuck and
rotating the front portion in the clockwise direction as
viewed from the chuck end.
Torque Control (fig. E)
This tool is fitted with a torque adjustment collar (7) to select
the operating mode and to set the torque for tightening
screws. Large screws and hard workpiece materials require
a higher torque setting than small screws and soft workpiece
materials.

For drilling in wood, metal and plastics, set the collar to
the drilling position symbol .
u
For screwdriving, set the collar to the desired setting. If
you donot yet know the appropriate setting, proceed as
follows:
- Set the collar to the lowest torque setting.
- Tighten the first screw.
- If the clutch ratchets before the desired result is
achieved, increase the collar setting and continue
tightening the screw. Repeat until you reach the correct
setting. Use this setting for the remaining screws.
