Connect the two Heim Joint parts together.
Open the tailgate and place the Heim Joint ends into
the brackets on the tailgate mount and Tire Carrier Post -
do not fasten at this time.
Close the tailgate. The Rubber Bumpers on the back of
the Tire Carrier post should be slightly compressed when
the tailgate is closed - if the bumpers are not slightly com-
pressed, open the tailgate, remove the Heim joint
and adjust it as needed. Repeat this process until the
bumpers are slightly compressed with the tailgate closed.
Use two (2) 5/8” washers and one (1) 5/8” Nylon Lock Nut
per bracket to secure the Heim Joint in place.
Check and retighten the Heim Joint fasteners after one week.
