9.1 Chain tensioning and sharpening
Correct chain tension is very important not only for its normal operation, but also for the
safety of operator and people around. If the chain is wrongly tensioned, it may accidentally
fall off during operation, and, most likely, cause damage to the chain itself or to the whole
machine. Chain overtension is not recommended as well. This may result in increased load on
the engine and sprocket crown and in subsequent malfunction of these units and reduction of
overall service life of the machine.
Tensioning the chain till hard stop is not necessary, as it may stretch again soon. The chain
should slightly sag. This is checked manually. There should be 2-4 mm spacing between the
chain and the guide bar (fig. 9).
Properly adjusted chain should not wedge when manually moved along the guide bar.
During operation, make sure that the chain does not sag too much. In case of sagging
detection, tension it immediately. After operation, it is recommended to loosen the chain. This
should be done due to chain heating up and stretching during operation, and subsequent
cooling down and shrinking. Non-observance of this may cause chain tearing, guide bar
breakage or sprocket crown destruction.
Check the sharpness of chain teeth. If necessary, perform sharpening in a specialized workshop.
For cutting construction materials of porous, cellular or aerated concrete, it is recommended
to use a chain with hard-alloy teeth.
9.2 Guide rail maintenance
In case of presence of drive sprocket lubrication point on the guide rail, perform its lubrication
(fig. 10).
Before starting operation, pay special attention to the external state and cleanliness of guide
rail grooves.
Presence of burrs on guide rail is not allowed. Remove the burrs by using a filer (fig. 10).
9.3 Working table adjustment
During machine operation, side play may appear in working table 2.
To eliminate side play, perform the following (fig. 11):
• loosen bolts 48 through the openings in working table 2;
• pull bracket 47;
•
tighten bolts 48.
Machine repair should be performed only in special service centers.
