4 Using a 5/8 inch (16 mm) wrench, securely tighten the mounting clamps
onto the strand.
5 Remove the safety tether from the unit.
The unit is now securely fastened and the tether is no longer required.
Step 5—Connect
Ethernet
Refer to
. If an Ethernet connection is not needed, go to
“Step 6—Connect Power” on page 34
Electrical Ethernet Connection
1 Locate an Ethernet gland (ordered separately from BelAir Networks).
2 Feed the gland over the Ethernet cable near the mounting bracket. (The
Ethernet cable should already be installed.)
3 Plug the Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port at the bottom of the unit.
4 Secure the first large half of the Ethernet gland. Finger tighten first, then
apply 1/8 of a turn with a large adjustable wrench or pipe wrench.
5 Secure the second half of the Ethernet gland to the first, tightening as
before. (This action compresses the gray seal onto the Ethernet cable,
forming a water proof seal.)
Step 6—Connect Power
1 Ensure the plant power supply is turned off for your location and that cable
is unpowered.
2 Ensure that the unit is properly grounded. See
for the
location of ground points of the unit.
3 Using industry standard procedures and the manufacturer’ procedures,
prepare the power cable and install the coaxial cable terminator with a KS
male interface or the KS to F-type adapter. The center conductor of the KS
male interface must be cut to a length of 1/2 inch (approx. 12 mm). The
coaxial cable terminator may contain a cutting guide. See
Warning — Do Not Connect Ethernet Port to PoE Switch
Do not connect the BelAir unit’s electrical Ethernet port
directly to a PoE output switch unless the -48 VDC PoE
outputs are disabled. The BelAir unit’s electrical Ethernet port
can be damaged by -48 VDC power.
