Carrying out Measurements
5.1
Preparations prior to Operation
Insert the battery prior to operating the instrument. The references des-
cribed in paragraph regarding the handling of batteries must be follo-
wed.
5.1.1
Inserting the battery
• Remove the battery case cover (7)
• Connect the battery supplied to the plug by respecting the correct
polarity.
• Replace the battery case cover (7)
5.2
General
The measurements have to be carried out in compliance with the
respectively applicable standards.
For all tests (measurements) follow the safety references as des-
cribed
Direct the measurement microphone towards the sound emitting
source.
To minimise operator influence on the measurements make sure
that the sound level meter is placed at a distance of approx. 50
cm away from the body or mounted onto a tripod. The operator
body acts as a sound reflector and can lead to an error of mea-
surement of up to ± 6dB.
During the measurement process, ensure that any persons pre-
sent do not influence the sound field, i.e. under no circumstance
should the persons be present within the sound field.
5.2.1
Carrrying out Measurements
• Switch on the instrument (3)
• Select type of measrement:
Measurement of noise pressure level: The currently measurement
sound is shown. The reading is updated twice every second.
Max-Measurement by pressing the key (3) again. The symbol MAX
(9) is shown in the display. The MAX recording mode captures and
stores the maximum input values detected.
