Opening the pressure cooker

Pull the lid release button (2) upwards
‹
to unlock the lid (A2).
Lift off the lid (1) of the pressure
‹
cooker.
NOTE
The lid can only be unlocked when ►
the pressure cooker has been com-
pletely depressurised.
This is recognised by the position of the
red cap of the safety valve:
Red cap is down (Fig. B1): pressure ■
cooker is not under pressure and
can be opened.
Red cap is up (Fig. B2): the pressure
■
cooker is under pressure and CAN-
NOT
be opened.
Checking the valves
(images C1, C2)
Before using each time, check that the
‹
safety valve can move freely by press-
ing against it from below (C1). It must
be possible to move it up easily. After
releasing, the valve must fall back into
the lower position (C2).
Before each use, also check the func-
‹
tion of the regulating valve. Move the
rotary knob to each position and back
for this purpose. Make sure that the
hole in the nut is always clean and ex-
posed. Clean the valve as described
in the section
Cleaning and care
(page 34) .
Cooking with the pressure cooker
Preparation
Put the ingredients into the pressure
‹
cooker. Pay attention to the minimum
and maximum filling quantities.
Check that the sealing ring is correctly
‹
seated as described in section Insert-
ing the sealing ring (p. 27)
.
Close the lid of the pressure cooker
‹
as described in the section Closing
the pressure cooker (S. 27) .
Pay attention to the filling quantity
You will find marks (16) on the inside of
the pressure cooker which indicate the fill -
ing quantities in litres. The minimum and
maximum filling levels are also specified.
Minimum filling quantity: ■
a minimum amount of liquid is re-
quired to generate steam irrespective
of whether you cook with or without
the steam insert. The minimum filling
quantity is 1 litre.
Maximum filling quantity: ■
the pressure cooker may only be filled
to a maximum of 2/3 of its entire filling
capacity. In the case of the 6L pot, this
would be roughly 4 litres. When using
as conventional pot, it is not necessary
to pay attention to the MAX mark.
