Symptoms of High or Low Blood Glucose
You can better understand your test r
esults by being awar

the symptoms of high or low blood glucose; this will also help
you decide what to do if your r
esults seem unusual. Some of the
most common symptoms ar

High blood glucose (hyper
glycemia):
fr
equent urination,
excessive thirst, blurr
ed vision, incr
eased fatigue, extr

, and irritability
.
Ketones (ketoacidosis) fr
om untr
eated hyper
glycemia:
shortness of br
eath, nausea and vomiting, very dry mouth.
Low blood glucose (hypoglycemia):
shakiness, sweating, fast
heartbeat, blurr
ed vision, strange behavior
, confusion, passing
out, and seizur
e.
If you ar
e experiencing any of these symptoms, test your
blood glucose. If your r
esult is below 2.8 mmol/L or above
13.9 mmol/L, or is displayed as “LO” or “HI,” contact your
doctor immediately
