LAN.
The following section assumes that the Marlin has not been previously
configured, and boots up in the Default state when power is applied. If at any
stage the stated result does not occur reference should be made to the relevant
sections of either the Marlin Router Reference Manual or the Marlin
Installation Guide.
Note the Marlin serial manager port is presented on an RJ45 interface. The
Manager socket on the rear of the Marlin is clearly identified. A separate
RJ45 manager cable and two adapter plugs (one RJ45 to DB9 and one RJ45 to
DB25) are also supplied with the Marlin.
1. Place the RJ45 cable in the Marlin Manager port at the rear of the unit.
Care should be exercised as the ISDN connector socket and the Manager
connector socket are both RJ45.
2. Connect a VT100 terminal, or a PC running a communications program
(in the active window if using a MACintosh or a PC running Windows,
Windows95 or Windows NT) that emulates a VT 100 terminal, via one of
the cable adapters supplied, to the Marlin Manager socket.
3. Connect the local LAN via a suitable cable to either the 10BaseT port or
the AUI port on the rear of the Marlin.
The Marlin will Autosense which LAN port is being used and Transmit any
frames destined for the local LAN via that port..
4. Connect the Marlin to the ISDN PRI S-Interface box supplied by your
ISDN PRI line provider by using the ISDN cable provided with the
Marlin.
If the ISDN line provider has supplied the PRI line as a U-Interface then a
separate U to S/T interface converter is required. Refer to the section in the
Marlin Reference Manual.
