Nautica Configuration Wizard Reference Guide

 Parameter:

Proxy Arp

 Default:

Disabled

 Options:

Enabled or Disabled

 Function:

Enables or disables Proxy ARP

 Instructions:

Enabling Proxy Arp allows the Nautica 200 to respond
to any ARP requests that are known to be associated to
this route.

An ARP Request is a request for a MAC address to
associate with a known IP address. With Proxy ARP
enabled, all these requests will be sent out along the path
specified in the Path parameter (

page 12-5

). In effect the

Nautica 200 pretends to be the host specified in the
requested ARP. It is a feature used more commonly with
single host addressing (Chapter 2) and Cul-de-sac
routing (Chapter 4).

 Parameter:

Cul-de-sac Route

 Default:

Disabled

 Options:

Disabled, Enabled

 Function:

Marks this route as a Cul-de-sac route

 Instructions:

Cul-de-sac routes are routes linking into a remote
network that uses the same subnet as the local LAN. If
you set up a Cul-de-sac route, you must also select the
Proxy Arp parameter.

TCP/IP Filters

Filtering allows you to specifically allow or disallow calls into the
Nautica 200. If a filter is created, it will work according to the IP
Filtering option set up in

 Advanced >System

 (

page 7-9

).
