Maintenance and Servicing
Procedures not specifically explained in this manual must
be performed only by a qualified technician.
TO PREVENT SERIOUS INJURY FROM ACCIDENTAL OPERATION:
Make sure that the Power Switch/Trigger is in the off-position and remove its
Battery Pack before performing any procedure in this section.
TO PREVENT SERIOUS INJURY FROM TOOL FAILURE:
Do not use damaged equipment. If abnormal noise or vibration occurs,
have the problem corrected before further use.
Cleaning, Maintenance, and Lubrication
1.
BEFORE EACH USE,
inspect the general
condition of the tool. Check for:
• leaking, swollen, or cracked battery pack,
• loose hardware,
• misalignment or binding of moving parts,
• cracked or broken parts, and
• any other condition that may
affect its safe operation.
2.
AFTER USE,
wipe external surfaces
of the tool with clean cloth.
3. Periodically, wear ANSI-approved safety goggles
and NIOSH-approved breathing protection
and blow dust and grit out of the motor
vents using dry compressed air.
4. Always check Wheel Guard for damage before
use. Replace Wheel Guard if damaged.
5. Disconnect battery pack and store battery pack,
charger, and tool in dry, indoor area out of
reach of children and away from metal objects
(i.e., paperclips, coins) to prevent shorting.
Replacing Wheel Guard
1. Depress the Spindle Lock Button and rotate
the Clamp Nut until the Spindle Locks.
2. Loosen and remove Clamp Nut from the Spindle.
Remove Disc Flange and Grinding Wheel.
3. Unlock Guard Clasp by pulling the
clasp out, away from Grinder.
4. Open Clasp fully and twist guard to release it
from the locking groove and tool housing.
5. Remove Wheel Guard and place new Wheel
Guard on the shoulder of the Bearing Cap.
6. Rotate Guard to correct position
(opposite the Side Handle).
Note:
Make sure the raised ridge on the Guard
is seated in the groove on the Bearing Cap.
7. Reinstall Disc Flange, Grinding Wheel, and
Clamp Nut according to instructions on Page
“Installing Wheel Guard” on page 12.
Accessory Storage and Handling
1. Handle accessories carefully to prevent
dropping or bumping. Do not use wheels
that have been dropped or bumped.
2. Store accessories in shelves, racks, boxes, or
drawers. Keep storage area dry and above
freezing. Any grinding wheels exposed to humidity
or freezing temperatures must not be used.
