tion with your hands. It is very easy to
cause a puncture with the tyre levers.
Work from the valve holder and ensure
that the inner tube does not become
jammed between the rim and the tyre.
10. Push the valve part through the
rim for a moment and pull it back out
again. Pump the tyre back up, screw
the valve nut up to the rim and put the
dust cap back on.
• Pump your tyres up hard. You should
just be able to make a slight indenta-
tion in the tyre with your thumbs. Soft
tyres can be damaged or punctured
more easily. Furthermore, tyres at the
right pressure means: easier cycling,
less wear on the tyre and faster and
better braking.
• The maximum pressure is usually
given on the side of the tyre (in Bar). It
is best to use a pump with a tyre gauge
when pumping up your tyres.
• And if you are busy with the wheel
anyway, check it for loose spokes and
stones, etc. on the running surface of
the tyre and that the wheel is not wob-
bling, at the same time.

GOOD VISIBILITY AND EASILY VISIBLE
Effective lighting is exceptionally
important for your safety and that of
other road users. Remember the rule:
‘Good visibility and easily visible’. In
addition to a headlight and backlight
which work well, back and pedal refl ec-
tors and refl ecting strips on the tyres
are also very important.
THE HEADLIGHT
The Logic Light (26) is a Batavus devel-
opment. It is an innovation in the fi eld
of lighting. This headlight is completely
integrated in the handlebars so that it
cannot break off like other lights. The
wires are also fully concealed in the
frame. The Logic Light has won various
design prizes. To adjust the beam of
light and replace the bulb, follow the
instructions below (1).
Boys’ & Girls’ bicycles have one of the
following three types of headlights:
A. A normal type of headlight with
dynamo.
B. A Logic Light headlight with
dynamo (with or without a dynamo
rotary switch).
C. A Logic Light headlight with hub
dynamo and dusk switch (on/off/auto-
matic settings).
Batavus bicycles are equipped with
safe, reliable lighting with double wir-
ing.
1. The Logic Light
Adjusting the beam and replacing the
bulb:
• Remove the black cap on the inside of
the handlebars
• On the inside you see a large screw
with a crosshead with which you can
adjust the direction of the beam.
• Right at the bottom you can see a
small screw with crosshead with which
you can loosen the front of the head-
light and get to the bulb.
If the circuit is interrupted, the light
will not work (except in the case of a
safe stop stand light). So check the fol-
lowing points:
1. Follow the wiring and check it for:
a) Good connections to both the light
