1. General
1.1 Introduction
The Basalte Serial.link is a control interface to connect Basalte RS485 keypads and Auro motion
sensors with a home automation processor. The Serial.link supports a total of 6 x RS485 lines with
a maximum of 32 devices per line.
The Serial.link integrates Basalte keypads and motion sensors with a home automation processor
by means of a TCP/IP connection or an RS232 connection. The central processor can be, Lutron

Lutron ® Homeworks QS
The Serial.link enables the integration of Basalte keypads and motion sensors with a Lutron ®
HomeWorks QS ® system.
In this configuration, the Serial.link (master) will establish the communication with Lutron ®
processor and will also control the Sentido keypads and Auro motion sensors. The Serial.link
configuration tool allows you to commission the keypads and motion sensors, and integrate them
into the HomeWorks QS
® software by the use of Integration ID’s .
This manual provides a general overview of the Serial.link. The integration with Lutron ® Homework
QS ® is described in a dedicated application note which can be found on the Basalte Support
website (Serial.link_AN_Lutron_x.y).
