Sit on the seat.
Depress the brake pedal and move the
parking brake lock lever forward to lock the
brake.

Set the reel rotation switch to the "Stop"
position.
Move the mower unit up/down lever to the
neutral position.
Shift the throttle lever from the turtle icon
(low speed) halfway to the rabbit icon (high
speed).

Important
The thermo-start lamp turns off at the
specified time. However, the lamp turning off
is not related to the glow plug generating
heat.
If the ignition key is left in the "GLOW"
position after the lamp is turned off, the plug
will still generate heat.
The thermo-start lamp will stay illuminated for
five seconds.
Switch the ignition key to the "GLOW"
position.
Make sure that the glow plug is generating
heat and the thermo-start lamp is turned on.
After the thermo-start lamp turns off,
immediately set the ignition key to the
"START" position.

Caution
Quickly returning the ignition key from the
"START" position to the "ON" position may
result in damage to the machine.
When the starter starts rotating and the
engine starts, return the ignition key to the
"ON" position slowly.
