6.3
Setting the magnetic declination
All maps are based on the geographic North Pole. The compass
needle however points to the magnetic North Pole. This
deviates from the geographical North Pole by approx. 2,000 km and
is continuously changing position. This deviation is termed the
magnetic declination.
You can find the current values from the maps or from isogones-
tables, e.g. from the Internet.
Bear in mind that these values are changing continuously.
