NATURAL GAS IGNITION AND RE-
GULATION
• Turn the switch on the control panel to the “O” position (open).
• Turn the fuel change-over switch to the “GAS” position.
• Check that there is water in the boiler and that the gate valves
of the system are open.
• Verify that the discharge of combustion fumes through the boiler
shutters, flue shutters can take place freely.
• Check that thee voltage on the mains meets the manufacturer
requirements and that all electrical connections made at the in-
stallation site are performed properly as illustrated in our wiring
diagram.
• Bleed out the air contained in the gas piping, with due precau-
tions and with doors and windows open.
• Open the union on the pipe near the burner and then open the
gas on/off cocks a little.
• Wait the time necessary for the gas in the room to disperse
outside. Re-connect the burner to the gas pipeline.
• Make sure that the combustion head is long enough to enter
the furnace following the measure specified by the boiler ma -
nufacturer.
• Apply a pressure gauge of appropriate scale to the pressure
intake on the gas pressure switch. If the foreseen amount of
pressure allows it, it is better to use a water column instrument.
Do not use dial instruments for average pressures.
• With the switch on the burner panel at the position “0” and the
main switch on, check, closing the contactor manually, that the
motor rotates in the right direction. If necessary, swap the two
power cables for the motor around to change the direction of
rotation.
• Connect (pos. I) the main switch (1) on the control panel to
power the equipment and close the thermostat line turning the
selector (2) in the "closed" position. If thermostats or pressure
switches (safety and boiler) are closed as well, the operating
cycle will start. The equipment turns on. For the regulation of
the burner, see “RAPID GUIDE TO PROGRAMMING” and the
specific instruction manual for the electronic cam supplied with
the burner.
• Check that the flame detector is triggered with the burner alre -
ady on, remove it from its seat in the burner and check that it
locks out.
• Check for the efficiency of the thermostats or boiler pressure
switches (they should shut down the burner when triggere-
d).The flame detection is carried out by IRD photocell sensitive
to infrared floating radiation. The possible presence of a slight
amount of grease may strongly compromise the passage of the
light radiations, preventing the internal sensitive element from
receiving the quantity of radiations required for proper opera-
tion. Even the simple contact with your fingers can leave a slight
amount of grease that is enough to compromise the operation
of the photocell. Properly clean the bulb before placing it in its
seat. The photocell does not "detect" daylight or the light from
a common lamp. Its sensitivity can be tested using a flame
of a lighter, or of a candle. To ensure a proper operation, the
photocell voltage value must be sufficiently stable and not go
below the minimum value required for the specific equipment.
The check is performed by measuring the voltage values at the
terminals of the panel shown in the wiring diagram.
• When the burner is working at its "minimum" output, adjust the
air and diesel in the proper quantities to ensure a good com-
bustion.
