CONCEPT P4 INSTRUCTION MANUAL

1.

INTRODUCTION

Thank you for purchasing the latest in electronic flash technology. We hope you
will be satisfied with the high performance and versatility of your new CONCEPT
P4 unit. Please read the following information carefully before using your flash
unit.

The CONCEPT P4 must be used in conjunction with a BALCAR PS-U 3, PS-U 4
or PS-Z 4 light-head. Do not attempt to use the CONCEPT P4 with any other
light head. BALCAR U and Z heads are not compatible with the CONCEPT P4
system.

The power obtained in each head depends on the head model, the position of
the head power selector switch and the power setting on the CONCEPT P4.
Section 4. provides details on how to set power.

The CONCEPT P4 will function from 90 V to 260 V, 50/60 Hz. Voltage selection
is automatic.

Safety Warnings

1.

THERE ARE ABSOLUTELY NO USER SERVICEABLE PARTS
INSIDE THE CONCEPT P4. Never open the unit and never attempt to
repair it. You might be injured by the high-voltage. BALCAR maintains
repair stations around the world to give you the best service.

2.

ALWAYS DISCHARGE and UNPLUG the light-heads before removing
the Pyrex shell and touching the flashtube or the model lamp.

3.

NEVER use fuses rated higher than those listed:

CONCEPT P4

10 A slow-blow (used in 110 V)
20 A slow-blow (used in 220 V)

PS-U/Z heads

6.3 A slow-blow

4.

ALWAYS connect on the CONCEPT P4 on a properly grounded A/C
line: this will reduce the risk of electric shock.

5.

ALWAYS protect the CONCEPT P4 from excessive humidity, and
NEVER use it under rain or on a wet floor.
