12.1 Preparation for Installation
WARNING
SECURELY BELT THIS CAR SEAT IN VEHICLE, EVEN
WHEN NOT OCCUPIED. AN UNSECURED CAR SEAT
CAN INJURE OTHER OCCUPANTS IN A CRASH.
The booster seat may be secured to the vehicle using
the LATCH system or top tether only. Securing the
booster holds the seat in position when a child is getting
in or out of the booster and during a crash.
WARNING!
DEATH or SERIOUS INJURY can occur:
FAILURE TO PROPERLY SECURE YOUR CHILD IN THE BOOSTER
SEAT INCREASES THE RISK OF SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH
IN THE EVENT OF A SHARP TURN, SUDDEN STOP OR CRASH.
• Proper installation is required.
• We recommend using the built-in safety harness for as long as
possible before changing to the high back booster mode.
• Child must be at least 3 years old and weigh at least 30 lbs
(13.6 kg) to use the booster mode.
• Use only the vehicle lap/shoulder belt system when restraining
the child in this booster seat.
• Never use the booster seat with only a vehicle lap belt across the
front of the child. Using a booster seat with only a lap belt could
result in serious injury or death.
• Snugly adjust the lap/shoulder belt around child according to the
instructions in the vehicle’s owner’s manual.
- Shoulder belt must be properly positioned over shoulder
(NOT touching child’s neck and NOT off shoulder).
- Vehicle lap belt must be positioned low on
the hips, contacting the thighs.
- Never use shoulder belt loose, positioned
under child’s arm, or behind child.
