17.6 Capacitance

The capacitance of a capacitor can be measured using the

Capacitance

function of the meter. The

meter applies a small voltage to the capacitor and measure the time it takes for the capacitor to charge
up to the applied voltage. From this measurement, the meter calculates the capacitance of the capacitor.
The capacitance measurement is useful for verifying the values of capacitors in electronic circuits and
testing the health of capacitors.

To measure capacitance:

Step 1.

Press the

key.

Step 2.

Press the

softkey to view the available metering option.

• Use the

Universal Knob

to select

"Cap."

.

Step 3.

Disconnect the capacitor from the circuit and discharge it.

Step 4.

Connect the capacitor to the meter input.
