1-5. Transmitter Section
The mechanical displacement detected by the detector section is converted into torque which
is conveyed via the seal tube (torque rod) to the input beam to drive the flapper which dictates
the nozzle back pressure which is amplified by the pilot relay in order to be delivered as
pneumatic output signal.
The pneumatic output signal is converted into force by the feedback bellows and vector
component F1 is fed back to the beam via the strap as shown in Fig. 1-3, thereby making up a
feedback loop which brings the beam into equilibrium when the pneumatic output signal has
reached a value corresponding to the torque input signal.
Elevation or suppression is accomplished by applying force to the beam with a spring. Span
change is accomplished by changing the direction of vector F3 to change the component of
vector F1 and thereby changing the feedback gain.
