Troubleshooting
It has been our experience at Axon Instruments that the majority of troubles reported to
us have been caused by faulty equipment connected to our instruments.
If you have a problem, please physically disconnect
all
instruments connected to the
MultiClamp 700A except for the oscilloscope. Ideally, remove the MultiClamp 700A
from the rack. Work through Chapter 2,
INSTALLATION AND BASIC OPERATION

This can often uncover a problem that is in your setup. In order to force the
MultiClamp Commander to recheck the hardware configuration, press the Select
Device button in the toolbar. (See Chapter 5,
SELECT DEVICE
.)
Some common problems are listed below.
Symptom:
The MultiClamp 700A is not responding to commands. The Status light is
not flashing.
Possible causes:
The serial cable is not plugged in properly or is defective. The
PC’s serial port is defective. Select Device has been set to Demo rather than
MultiClamp Hardware, or the correct Device Number has not been set.
Suggestions:
Check the serial cable. Check that the PC’s serial port works with
other serial instruments, or try a different port. Press the Scan button in the Select
Device window to ensure that the MultiClamp Commander can find the correct
