Charge process
The status and phase of charge process is shown on
the multi-function display of the loader. The
estimated remaining time until a full charge of the
battery will depend on the temperature of the battery
and can change significantly during charge process.
Ignition key
The position of the ignition key does not affect the
charge process.
Equalising charge
The Battery management system will minimise the
small differences between individual battery cells
during use and also during partial recharge.
However, it is recommended to keep the charger on
until the end of the normal charge cycle, as in this
phase the slight differences between individual
battery cells are fully balanced. The final phase of
the charge cycle, called equalising charge, is
completed when the multi-function display shows
100% charge state.
This full charge process must be made at least every
3 to 5 discharge cycles. The equalising charge is a
slower charge process, but important for the
performance of the battery.
If the battery has been completely discharged, allow
the charger to remain plugged until the full charge
process is complete.
Charging can be interrupted when
needed but it is advisable to
perform full charging regularly (for
example every third time) as this
activates the internal balancing
function and helps to increase the
lifetime of the battery.
Frequent equalising charges are
vital for the life of the battery and
to maintain its capacity. Full
charge is especially necessary
after a deep discharge or
repeated incomplete recharges.
Equalising charges are carried
out following normal charging
cycle, until the green indicator
light on the dashboard is lit.
.
Charge times
Charge time depends on the temperature of the
battery, as described on page 57.
With the integrated charger of the loader it will take
about 7,5 hours to charge the battery from 0% to
100%.
With an external charger, fast charging from 0% to
100% takes a little over one hour, when using the
400 V / 32 A charger model. From 20% to 80%,
recommended workday cycle, the recharge takes
about 50 minutes.
With the 400 V / 16 A charger the charge times are
roughly twice as long than for the 32 A model.
Charge times indicated here are only approximations
of charge times in favourable conditions. Actual
charge times can vary.
Leaving the charger plugged
Leave the charger plugged also for short term
storage in extreme ambient temperatures, as
described on page 74.
Either the quick charger or the external charger can
be left plugged in. If both chargers are plugged in,
the battery will not get charged.
Drive or use while charging
On the e6 loader, use of the loader during recharge
is not possible. The hydraulic systems of the loader
are disabled when the charger of the loader is
plugged in to mains outlet.
CAUTION
Risk of fire, and electric shock
from sparks and arcing - Shut
down external charger or unplug
from mains power before
disconnecting it from the
battery.
During charging high
current passes through battery
connector. If charger is unplugged
abruptly, arcs or sparks can form.
See page 78.
