AUKS Fan CoilUnit information

18

Protection of finished products:
a. After the fan coils are shipped to the site , measures shall be taken to keep them in good condition and

to place them in an orderly manner. The fan coils shall be protected from rainy and snowy weathers.

b. When working in winter, completely drain water from the fan coil after water pressure testing, to prevent

it from being frozen.

c. The fan coil shall be installed immediately after it is delivered to the site and care should be taken

during the cross working with other process, to protect the finished products from being bumped.

Quality issues that require attention:
Preventive measures for issues occur frequently
a. Since the surface heat exchanger can be easily damaged by the cold temperature during winter

weathers, it is required to discharge all water after the water pressure testing, to avoid such damage.

b. Since fan coils can be easily damaged due to bumps during movement, they shall be placed in a single

row and gently handled

c. Since fan coil heat exchangers can be easily jammed, no fan coil (after connected to its pipe ) shall be

put to operation before cleaning and pollution discharge, to prevent it from being jammed.

d. Since the condensed water plate of a fan coil can be easily jammed, the foreign matters in the plate

shall be removed before the fan coil can be operated, to ensure smooth flow of the condensed water.

Quality records:
a. Quality inspection review table for air treatment chamber building and installation sub work.
b. Self-inspection and mutual inspection records.
c. Work inspection form for preliminary inspection works
d. Inspection record table for incoming equipments.

Installation precaution

Considerations of noise and vibration

a. Canvass joints shall be installed between the machine and the air return/feed pipes to prevent

secondary noise and vibration from traveling from the fan coil to air pipes and then to the building.

b. Air flow rate shall be considered when selecting the size of air return/feed pipes to minimize the noise

level.

Notes : Low speed air pipes are usually used for air conditioners. The “constant pressure” method is most
commonly used to determine the size, whereby the attrition loss of the straight section of a pipe is defined
as 0.1mmAq/m, and the size can be determined using an “air pipe ruler”. The width/height ratio of a
rectangular air duct shall be with the range of 1≤W/H≤4.
The air speed of a grille type feed vent usually is 3m/s.
The air speed of a grille type return vent usually is 2.5m/s.
The air speed of a fresh air louver usually is 2.0m/s.

Cautions

a. The unit shall be installed by professionals who familiar with this type of products and know the

applicable local rules;

b. During the installation, the unit shall never be moved by grasping the fan blade and volute by hands;
c. The unit shall be securely suspended from a well fixed point with enough strength to bear the weight of

the unit and its vibration during operation; The unit shall be kept horizontal, or the condensed water
may overflow;

d. If the air duct port does not match the port of the air feed vent, connect the two with a air duct

connection of variable section prepared in-situ.

e. It is suggested that a flexible connecting pipe and tape sealing are used when connecting water outlet

pipe , with a torque not higher than 205.6N.m

21Kgf.m

to avoid water leakage due to cracking.

f. Heat preservation and extra valves shall be provided for the inlet and outlet water pipes;
