6 Restoring to Factory Defaults
This section describes how to restore factory defaults using either the device's hardware
Reset button or the command line interface (CLI).
6.1 Restoring Defaults using the Reset Button
The front panel of the 6310 blade provides a Reset button. This button resets the device
and restores the device's parameters to their factory default settings (including the device's
IP address).
Note: The Reset button is applicable only to device's housing the 6310 blade.

To restore the device to factory default settings:
1. Disconnect the device from the power supply and network cables.
2. Reconnect the power cable; the device powers up. After approximately 45 seconds,
the
ACT LED flashes for about four seconds.
3. While the ACT LED is flashing, press the blade's Reset button; the device resets again
and is restored with default parameters.
4. Reconnect the network cable.
6.2 Restoring Factory Defaults using CLI
The device can be restored to factory defaults, using the CLI command
RestoreFactorySettings (rfs).

To restore factory default settings:
1. Access the device's CLI:
a. Connect the device's RS-232 port (located on the blade's front panel) to either
COM1 or COM2 communication port on your PC.
b. Establish serial communication with the device, using a serial communication
program (such as HyperTerminal
TM
) with the following communication port
settings:
♦ Baud Rate: 115,200 bps
♦ Data Bits: 8
♦ Parity: None
♦ Stop Bits: 1
♦ Flow Control: None
2. At the CLI prompt, enter the following commands:
RestoreFactorySettings
3. For Mediant 3000 HA , repeat steps 1 through 2 for the redundant blade.
