Load chain inspection
The load chain has to be inspected for me-
chanical defects annually, however, latest af-
ter 50 hours of operation.
The load chain has to be checked for visual
damages, deformations, cracks, corrosion
marks, wear and sufficient lubrication.
Link chains have to be replaced, when the
original nominal dimension ´d´ at the strong-
est worn chain link has been reduced by more
than 10% or when the chain has experienced
an elongation of 5% (Fig. 13) over a pitch
´pn´, or an elongation of 3 % over 11 pitches
(11 x pn). The nominal values and wear limits
are given in table 2. When exceeding one of
the limit values, the load chain has to be re-
placed.
Chain stop inspection
The chain end stop must be connected to the
free (idle) chain strand (Fig. 11). Abrasion resp.
false position must not be available.
Chain reeving inspection
Bottom block
All units equipped with two or more chain falls,
should be inspected prior to being put into
operation for twisted or kinked chains. The
chains of multiple fall hoists may be twisted if
the bottom block was turned over (Fig. 9).
The load chain has to be installed correctly
according to illustration (Fig. 10). Hereby the
welds of the standing links must face away
from the load sheave.
Make sure that load chains are installed which
have been approved by the manufacturer only.
In case of non-compliance the warranty will
be void with immediate effect.
Inspection of load brake (Fig. 15)
In case of irregularities (e.g. bloomed cooling
element, loosened friction discs) consult the
manufacturer immediately.
All brake components must be inspected for
wear, damage, staining by overheating and
function. Friction discs must be kept clean
from oil and grease as well as water and dirt.
The bonding of the friction discs has to be
checked.
The brake adjustment should be made in ac-
cordance with the maintenance instruction no.
09900490/09.2006.
Works survey
Every 3 years each unit should be examined
by Yale Industrial Products GmbH. This inspec-
tion includes the complete disassembly of the
unit and the perfect inspection of all compo-
nents. Non-compliance with this inspection by
Yale Industrial Products GmbH will render the
ATEX declaration of conformity nil and void.
Inspections and the compliance with
the inspection intervals are the
responsibility of the user.
