Note:
In the typical arrangements presented, the optimum support form for the flexural mode
is also proposed for the longitudinal mode. Nodal lines and the ideal support for this vibration
mode do not match the ones for the longitudinal mode. However, the longitudinal mode is
very little sensitive to the cables supporting positions (when ends are free). As a result, it is
possible to use the flexural mode boundary conditions to characterize the longitudinal without
compromising the results.
