With completion of measurement,
wipe the sample out of the prism
surface and its periphery with soft
tissues moistened with water. Then,
wipe them up again with dry
tissues
to
remove moisture
completely.
After
measurement
of
a
macro-molecular or oily sample,
wipe down the prism surface and
its periphery with soft tissues
moistened with alcohol or neutral
detergent. Then, wipe them up
again with dry tissues to remove
moisture completely.
If the eyepiece lens has been
soiled, wipe it down with soft
tissues moistened with a small
amount of water.
After
cleaning,
keep
the
refracto-meter with it in a dry place
avoiding high humidity, dust and
direct sunlight.

When the refractometer is left in
the
measuring
site
as
it
is
connected
with
a constant
temperature circulating bath, wipe
up not only the refractometer but
also the workbench, and put the
vinyl cover on the refractometer
after straightening up everything on
the workbench.
Moreover, make sure to cover the
constant temperature circulating
bath to avoid vaporization of water
as well as to switch off the pump
and all other instruments.
For keeping the refractometer, it is
recommended to insert dry tissues
between
the main
prism
and
sacondary prism to protect their
respective surfaces.
Regarding tissues, make sure to
use soft tissues and not to use
perfumed ones. When using gauze
for tissues, don't use new gauze but
use washed one because its fiber is
softened.
