The best way for the multimode transceiver to fully switch over from being a Hi-Fi AM exciter back to its
factory configuration automatically is to employ a relay in place of the 6PDT switch or 4PDT switch in
the Advanced Installation with Bias Modification above.
Simply connect a relay in the same configuration as the switch in the installation above and use the AM
mode signal from the mode switch to drive a NPN general purpose transistor, to in turn, drive the relay.
Most transceivers send +8 volts out of the mode switch to activate the appropriate mode section within.
Find the switch terminal that pr8 volts from the mode switch when on AM mode and use this to
drive the NPN general purpose transistor, to in turn, drive the relay as seen on Fig. 23. The mode signal
varies from transceiver to transceiver, so much care should be taken not to overload the mode switching
circuit when employing this type of setup.
